Doctor

  • Dr. Kent B Thomazin


         Dr. Thomazin is a 1991 graduate of Kansas State University.  He has been at the Animal Hospital of Newport Hills since 1993.  Professional interests include general surgery, with an emphasis on orthopedics, as well as oncology and geriatric medicine.   Dr. Thomazin and his wife Suzi have three daughters who keep them very busy at home.  Pets include a black lab Chester, a golden retriever Jazzmine, D and Wilbur, two polydactyl cats, along with two bunnies, Peppers and Butterscotch.

  • Dr. Rachel A Olsen


    Dr. Rachel Olsen graduated from Oregon State and Washingtion State University- College of Veterinary Medicine with honors in 1997.  Her undergraduate degrees are from Santa Clara University, BS in Combined Sciences and BS in Biology with honors in 1991.  Dr. Olsen has been a veterinarian at the Animal Hospital of Newport Hills since November of 1997.

  • Dr. Sheri Belau


    Dr. Belau graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota Veterinary College in 1998.  She then moved to Washington State shortly afterwords and began working at Olympic Animal Hospital, in Lynnwood, from 1998-1999.  Dr. Belau started working at the Animal Hospital of Newport Hills in the spring of 1999.

  • Dr. Twyla Brown


    Dr. Twyla Brown graduated from California Polytechnic State University with honors in marine biology and ecology in 1996. She graduated from the college of veterinary medicine at Washington State University in 2003 and spent her first year gaining surgical experience. Dr. Brown joined the Animal Hospital of Newport Hills in 2004 and enjoys surgery, geriatric medicine and preventative medicine. Dr. Brown and her husband, Jeremy, have twin daughters, MacKenzie and Madison, and live with their yellow lab Piper and their three cats named Roofus, Nash and Lily.

  • Dr. Cynthia Thomas


    Dr. Thomas graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 with honors. She spent her clinical year of school at the University of Minnesota, and then joined the Animal Hospital of Newport Hills in 2004. Her undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Biology with honors from Washington State University in 1999.

  • Dr. Shan M Rosenkranz


    Graduated from Moorhead State University in Minnesota with a chemistry degree  in 1993.  She then graduated from University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997.  She practiced small animal medicine for 8 years in Minnesota before moving to Washington State; where she started working at the Animal Hospital of Newport Hills in August of 2005.

  • Dr. Pete Hetrick


    Dr. Hetrick graduated at the top of his class from Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. He received his undergraduate degree in 1999 with a double major in Zoology and Cellular and Molecular Biology. His wife is also a veterinarian. They enjoy many outdoor activities, especially those that include Tank and Sparks, their two Australian Shepherds. Vetsuite_Img_26363

  • Dr. Karen Frembgen


    Dr. Frembgen graduated from Washington State University in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in genetics and cell biology.  After working in the veterinary field for 11 years, she went back to school to get her DVM degree.  She graduated summa cum laude from St. George's University school of veterinary medicine in 2007.  During her studies, she lived on the island of Grenada in the West Indies and in Edinburgh, Scotland.  When she is not working, she likes to hike, bike, travel, and spend time with her rescued Grenadian pot hound, Bounce.Vetsuite_Img_41581

  • Dr. Karen C Weeks


    Dr. Karen C. Weeks graduated from Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008.  Prior to veterinary school, she received a BS in Biology in 2000 and an MBA in 2003, both from Western Washington University.  She is especially interested in veterinary dentistry, obstetrics, and pediatrics.  Her furry family includes her crazy dog Riley and her cats, O'Malley and Cringer.  When not working, Dr. Weeks enjoys traveling, horseback riding and cheering for the Seattle Seahawks and the WSU Cougars.  Go Cougs!

  • Jenny Marquardt and Maureen Segon

  • Kris Foy


    Kris is our kennel manager.  She and her sister Catherine have both worked at the hospital for several years.  Between them they have 6 dogs, 6 cats, 2 guinea pigs, and 1 bunny. Vetsuite_Img_51078
